Wayne 64 - Creek 12
Creek football started the long road to
improvement Friday while enduring their worse loss on point
differential since 2002 [Xenia 56-0] and equaling their worse loss by
total points since 1999 [Centerville 64-7]. The Beavers had
their second best game of the year for penalties [4/30] and fumbles
[1]. Though struggling still, the offense is using a variety
of backs and receivers. Josh Young and Avid Pureval each had a
reception and Dee Wallace led all rushers with 161 yards.
Beaver players are definitely given a chance to prove themselves!
Special Teams had a busy night. Pureval averaged 36 yards a
punt and Pat Williams' kickoffs averaged 33 yards. Eric
Hill was the return workhorse with 7 returns for 74 yards.
1st Half
- Beavercreek had first
possession and prepared to punt on 4th down when
a high snap into
the Warrior end zone started Wayne scoring with a safety.
Remaining activity for the half alternated between five Wayne possession
touchdowns and five Creek possession punts with momentary hope on
returns from Dee Wallace [23 yard return] and
Eric Hill [14 yard return]. Finally on Wayne's 6th
possession of the half, Justin Hull came through for the defense
with an interception to shut down the Warrior drive. Creek
finished the half on the ensuing possession.
3Q - In the third quarter the possession
pattern continued: Wayne TD - Creek punt - Wayne TD - Creek Punt.
Chad White had a nice 24 yard carry. The Warriors took
possession into the 4th quarter leading 50-0
4Q -
Warrior advance continued until 10:29 of the fourth quarter when
Creek defense stopped Wayne on downs. The next Creek
possession resulted in the eighth and last Beaver punt of the game.
Creek scored on their next two possessions on Dee Wallace 9
yard and 37 yard runs. Two-point conversions failed and
Beavercreek's scoring flurry was over. With 37 seconds
remaining in the game Wayne returned Creek's final kickoff for a
touchdown, their second of the quarter. The game ended with
Creek attempting one last score. Final score: 64-12
