Football 10/14/05 . . .
Beavercreek 35 - Springfield South 34
Defense stepped up first and shut down South on
their first possession, a 4th and 12 Wildcat incomplete pass handed the ball
to the Beavers on downs. Creek took
over on the South 17 yard
line and drove to the Creek 18 where a 4th and 6 resulted in a Dee
Wallace TD run. South took the next possession into the 2nd
quarter where teams swapped touchdowns and the half ended at 14-14.
Dee Wallace returned the 2nd half
kickoff to the 50 yard line where Beavercreek started their third TD
drive of the night. South, starting in their own territory
returned the favor for a Wildcat TD but a bad snap and failed 2
point conversion put the Beavers in the lead 21-20. Scoring
temporarily slowed as a Creek possession, starting at the South 22
ended in a punt and the South start at the Beaver 18 ended in a Chad
White Interception. Creek converted another 4th down (and
3) with a Dee Wallace run to end the third quarter. Momentum
continued in the fourth as Creek finished this possession with
another TD to expand their lead to 28-20. Creek's kickoff went
out of bounds and an onside Beaver rekick was recovered by James Henry, but
the Beavers had to turn the ball over on downs at the South 39.
The Wildcats scored and had a successful two-point conversion to tie
the score at 28. Creek punted on their next possession, and
Jake Blasingame recovered a South fumble to give the ball back to
the Beavers. Starting at the South 42 yard line the Beavers
went ahead on their final TD of the evening only to have South
answer with their own score with 9 seconds left. The Creek
defense finished the game stong and stopped the Wildcat
two-point attempt. At this point Creek was lucky not to be
charged another penalty as elementary, middle school and a few ninth
graders rushed the field
[parents, do you know where your child was!].
Order restored, Beavers recovered a South onside kick and
Beavercreek had their second win of the 2005 season.
Creek offense combined for 339 total
yards led by Dee Wallace (206 rushing). Wallace rushed for three
scores and Chad White two. Avid Pureval averaged
39 yards a punt. Pat Williams had a perfect 5/5 extra point
night. A great team night, no turnovers and 5 penalties for
only 35 yards.
